Guidelines for Book Reviews by Celeste

When I first started this page on my blog, I was outreaching to new authors of various genres, especially poetry. As I thought about what I wanted to accomplish, it entailed:
- giving new authors an opportunity to announce their work,
- giving new authors an opportunity to share excerpts of their work
- giving new authors an opportunity to have their work reviewed
Although I am a poet, I do have an appreciation for a variety of genres; so I don’t want to exclude anyone. If you want to have your book reviewed, I will do so as long as I can keep up with the volume.
If you are interested in having your book reviewed, please follow these guidelines:
1) Send a copy of your book to me at the following address:

eBook submissions can be sent as a PDF file to : callen.mypecantree@comcast.net
Upon receipt of the book, I will make a determination of the books that will receive first priority for review.
2) Upon completion of the review, I will submit a copy of the review to you, the author, as well as submit your review to sites that I am affiliated with, including being posted on my blog. At this point, there are no fees involved. In addition, I am not touting this service as a marketing tool for the success of your book, just a voice from my perspective as a reviewer.
3) Please provide the following information when you submit your book:
a. The name of your book, your name, the date your book was published, and who the publisher is, and pertinent information like your website or blog address.
b. Provide a biography, why you chose to write this book, and a brief overview of the book.
c. Provide information where your book can be purchased.

Book Review – Five Years and Counting by Cendrine Marrouat

“An “old soul” that understands life is how I describe the author of the collection of poetry, Five Years and Counting – A Journey into the Mind of Soul Poetry by Cendrine Marrouat. The first several chapters of the collection are layered with the growth and grounding that is associated with understanding life experiences and embracing the emotions, revelations, and epiphanies that collectively shape who we are and how we deal with life.
As I was reading the collection, I was making notes and acclaiming, yes, this one too, is one of my favorites. My list became exhaustive, for the more I read, the more poems I liked. The collection is laced with prolific imagery – “my soul, boundless like heaven’s canopy”, “wings are made of endless dreams”, “the ship of my sanity afloat”; and I could go on.
Subsequent chapters are molded like clay in the potter’s hand who knows how to shape life into profound perspective. Cendrine shares messages of lived and learned life experiences; rejoicing in her understanding of what it means to embrace “the good and bad” that we all encounter just by the sheer act of being a part of human existence. She also shares her “soul” as a source of light – a path that dictates that we should stay continually focused on God through all of life’s travails. She willingly shares her convictions that our “all” and the secret to overcoming adversity is not by dismissing it, and that the beauty of what we do experience is the light that can be seen more vividly from embracing our own soul poet journey – a journey that we all share.

About Cendrine Marrouat - Freelance journalist | Reviewer | Blogger | Author
Cendrine Marrouat was born in Toulouse, southern France, in the late 1970s. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English-to-French translation that she received in 2001 from the Université of Toulouse-le Mirail. Two years later, she moved to Canada and became the first member in her family to permanently settle in a foreign country.
Cendrine has extensive experience in the writing field. Deemed completely bilingual (French and English), she began her career as an independent artist, focusing on poetry and spoken word. She published six collections, recorded a CD, and wrote two plays that she hopes to direct someday.
